According to the Bournemouth Echo the contractors who are building the Boscombe Surf reef are working on another project in India and council officials aren’t convinced they will be back to finish the job.

Artificial Reef : Waste of Time?

A near identical surf reef to that proposed in Bournemouth was completed in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand last year. Surely we all should be looking more closely to the success of this project when we anticipate the completion of the First European Artificial Reef with bated breath.

A recent Article in the New Zealand Herald reads;

Mt Maunganui's $1.5 million artificial surf reef, branded as fickle by its designers, has been virtually ignored by Bay surfers since it was completed last June. Hopes were high the reef would finally achieve its potential once the last sandbags were anchored to the seabed nearly eight months ago. But Tauranga surfing commentator Josh Guinness said the reef had all but failed to create better quality waves. He knew of only two surfing sessions since June when the swell and tide had combined to produce a right-hand tube ride.

Hawaii's 2008 Pipeline Masters has got off to a flyer. It was a perfect 20 point score for Joel Parkinson as he took down the Triple Crown's rating leader, Dusty Payne, in a hotly contested heat. In perfect 4 to 6ft Backdoor, Parko became the first ever surfer to achieve two 10 point barrel rides at the premier surfing event of the season. Equalling Kelly Slater's historic first at Teahupoo in 2005.

Heated Surf Belts

Just came across a great Christmas present for surfers! If your not quite ready to fork out a whopping 750 quid for a RipCurl H Bomb, may be you should try a heated belt for starters. They range from about £12-30 and stay warm for up to 2 hours!

What could be better than finishing a hard day's work on a warm summer's day and heading off to your local beach knowing you are guaranteed 4f waves when you get there? If all goes to plan then this might come true to surfers based in London when the proposed surf dome is complete!

South Coast Surf Championships POSTPONED

This year’s South Coast Surfing championships have been postponed yet again. The disappointment decision has been made again because of the poor swell conditions.
The contest will now be run in the New Year most probably in February.

The contest was due to be held this weekend at Boscombe pier but has been delayed because of poor surf conditions.

I have heard it's really good but I want to know if it really justifies the £750 price tag?

Or shall I put it another way is 3 x better than the Oneil Pyshco?
